Grup band 'Gigi' mulai mempersiapkan perayaan ulang tahunnya ke-17 pada 2011. Mereka akan menandai dengan peluncuran album dan gelaran konser akbar di empat kota. Album perdananya yang berjudul Angan (1994) menjadi gebrakan yang cukup meyakinkan di blantika musik nasional. Pada perayaan ulang tahun ke-15 tahun pada 2009 lalu, Gigi merilis buku biografi bertitel '15 Tahun Gigi'. Tak hanya merilis buku, di 2009 Gigi juga merilis album anyar berjudul self title GIGI. Album yang berisi sembilan track ini menjagokan lagu Ya Ya Ya dan My Facebook.

History

Gigi Band officially formed on March 22, 1994. Band group initially consisted of Armand Maulana (vocals), Thomas Ramdhan (bassist), Dewa Budjana (guitar), Ronald Fristianto (drummer), and Baron Arafat (guitarist). The name "Gigi" itself emerged after the personnel grinning broadly comment on the name "Orang Utan" which almost made the band's name. With background music disparate, they merge into one musical characteristic of Dentistry. Debut album is themed "fantasy" was thrown into pasara with support from the Union Artist / Musica. At that time, Gigi has not yet established a management company to manage their activities so as to promote the debut album, they released two singles that once a video clip, which I want and dreams. But the two songs are not many reliable figures to boost sales. Lack of promotion and lack of management becomes the main cause of the failure of the first album of this music group. Eventually they formed a Dental Management so that they become more professional.

The second album "The World" spelled success in the market. By relying on first flagship song "Promise", which sold about 400,000 copies and was awarded "Best Music Group." Dental management at this time occurred a rift with the Baron. Video clips second mainstay song "Nirvana" was made without the Baron. In September 1995, the Baron is officially out of the Dental Group Band. Then followed the release of Thomas and Ronald November 1996. Gigi Band to finally just lived alone but still trying to survive and recruit Opet Alatas (bassist) and drummer Haryono Budhy). This new formation gives a new color on the teeth. In 1997 they released their fourth album on the theme of 2x2 to hold a number of famous musicians, local and world, among others Billy Sheehan (Mr. Big) who contributed a tremendous bass playing on their song (Cry Baby), and Indra also contributed in song "Tractor". Mainstay song "miss" was less response from the community. This same situation were helped by the 100 city tour featuring duet Gilang Ramadhan Indra Lesmana and as the opening.

Meanwhile, Thomas, who has just come out of rehabilitation back to Jakarta to start playing music again. Thomas even make a surprise when a guest at the concert TEETH "One Hour With Teeth" and Dental concert in Bandung. At the concert he played in the song "Promise" and "dreams". In concert, they seemed to reminisce with Thomas. The specials again, they ngebawain one song that pretty rare dibawain, namely desire. On March 22, 1999 Thomas finally signed (again) to the Group Dental music. Shortly thereafter Dental sixth album entitled "Good" in April 1999. The first flagship song is "Hinakah".
